Frequently asked questions
Answers for retailers who want to keep up with competitor prices: which stores you choose to monitor, how you set the check interval, how the recommended price works and how you add products to track, alerts, price history, eMAG Marketplace, API, briefing and opportunities, plans.
Competitor price monitoring
Which stores and competitors do you monitor?
You choose the list. By default we monitor Romania’s major retailers — eMAG, Altex, Flanco, PC Garage, Evomag and Cel.ro — but you can remove any of them and add any other store by pasting the product page URL. We compare their prices with yours on the products that matter, so you always know where you stand.
How often do you check competitor prices?
You set the interval yourself, per product, within the minimum your plan allows: the bigger the plan, the shorter the shortest allowed interval between checks. The account-wide default is changeable any time from the panel, and you can move priority products to your plan’s shortest interval without touching the rest of the catalog. That way you catch price drops, promotions and competitor stock-ins/stock-outs quickly. Just note that every check consumes one credit, so short intervals show up in your usage.
How do I add the competitor products I want to track?
You give us the product-page URL of each competitor product you want watched — paste them one by one in the panel or import a CSV with a url column (optional name, category, group and role). 4pricing does not look up or pair the equivalent product at competitors on its own: you decide what is compared with what, so the comparison is exactly the one you chose.
How is this better than manual monitoring in spreadsheets?
Manual monitoring in spreadsheets means lost hours, data that is stale within hours and products you miss. 4pricing automatically checks the products you track around the clock, alerts you to changes and keeps the history — no copy-paste, no mistakes.
Can I compare prices across whole product categories?
Yes. Beyond the individual product, you can analyze your position across an entire category: how many products are cheaper, at parity or more expensive than the competition. You quickly see where you are competitive and where you lose sales across whole segments.
Is the price data collected legally?
Yes. We only collect prices displayed publicly on store pages — exactly the information any shopper sees. We use proprietary crawlers and the Bright Data Web Unlocker infrastructure for stable, compliant collection, with no access to private data.
Recommended price, alerts & history
How does the recommended price work?
An algorithm suggests a price based on your position versus competitors, recent trends and your minimum margin. The recommendation shows you how to stay competitive without dropping below the profit threshold you set yourself.
Does the app change my store prices automatically?
Not by default. You get the recommendation and you decide: approve it with one click or apply it manually. There is also an automatic level (Autopilot, level 3) that applies prices on its own, but only inside the limits you set — maximum change, actions per day, minimum margin; it is off by default and depends on your plan. Without it, nothing changes without your approval.
How do I receive price-change alerts?
Alerts appear in the panel and, if you set a webhook URL, reach it too as a signed webhook — by default nothing is sent outside the panel. E-mail, SMS and WhatsApp are not delivery channels. You get an alert when a competitor changes a price, starts a promotion or runs out of stock on a tracked product. Webhooks let you trigger automated flows in your own systems.
What is the price history for?
We keep each product’s price evolution, so you can tell real discounts from fake ones and understand competitor patterns. It is also useful in the context of the EU Omnibus Directive, which requires referencing the lowest price of the last 30 days.
Can I see market trends and reports?
Yes. You get analytics and reports on price evolution, your position versus competitors and market movements by category. Use them for price and stock decisions based on data, not gut feeling.
eMAG Marketplace, API & integration
Does it work for eMAG Marketplace sellers?
Yes. We track public competitor offers on the same products and alert you when someone undercuts your price or when you are no longer the cheapest among the stores you track. You see the price gap and the margin you keep if you react.
Is there an API, and how can I use the data in my own systems?
Yes. We provide a REST API with access keys to read current prices, history, the recommended price, opportunities and the daily briefing in your own systems and to push your daily sales, plus a signed webhook: HTTP notifications for alerts, for approved prices (price.apply) and for the briefing, sent to an endpoint you configure. There are no ready-made connectors for ERP, WMS or marketplaces.
How do I import my product catalog?
You add products one by one, using the product-page URL, or through a CSV file with a header row (the url column is required; name, category, group and role — own or competitor — are optional), up to 2,000 rows per import; duplicates by URL are skipped. Products are then checked at the interval you choose.
Can I export the data to Excel or BI tools?
Yes. You can export prices, comparisons and history to CSV/Excel, or pull them via the API into your BI tools. That way you use 4pricing data in your own reports and dashboards.
Do I have to share my store login credentials?
Not for monitoring. Competitor comparison relies on public prices, so we do not need access to your store. Connecting via API/webhook is optional and you only use it if you want to automate the flow into your own systems; the only direct application of prices, without your system, is on 4buildsite shops linked to the product.
Daily briefing, opportunities and Autopilot
How is the estimated value of an opportunity calculated, and why does it sometimes show “—”?
The money figure is computed only from your own shop’s sales, which you send through the API (units sold per day, per product). Without sales, 4pricing does not invent a number: you see “—” for that product. A market estimate, shown separately and with low confidence, may appear instead. Amounts from the two sources are never added together.
What does “market estimate” mean?
When you have not sent sales, 4pricing can estimate the impact from public signals on the pages you track, mainly how fast reviews grow, plus an assumed margin (15% by default, which you can change in settings). It is an order of magnitude, not a forecast: it always carries the label “market estimate, low confidence”, and the assumptions used are shown next to the figure. If even that signal is missing, you see “—”.
What is the difference between a recommendation, one-click approval and automatic?
Level 1, recommendation: 4pricing shows the proposed price and the reason, and nothing is sent anywhere. Level 2, one-click approval: you approve, and the price is sent to your system (a signed webhook that you confirm after applying) or written directly to the shop on 4buildsite, if the product is linked to it. Level 3, automatic: 4pricing applies it on its own, but only inside the limits you set (maximum change, actions per day, minimum margin). Level 3 is off by default and depends on your plan.
What happens if the price changed in the meantime?
The action is refused and nothing is written. Before any application, 4pricing checks that your current price is still the one the recommendation was computed on and that the new price respects your minimum margin and limits. If one of those checks no longer passes you see the reason for the refusal, not a price applied on stale data.
How do I revert an applied price?
From the panel, on the applied action, choose to go back to the previous price. On 4buildsite shops linked to the product the old price is written back directly; through the webhook, 4pricing sends a price.revert event and your system applies the previous price and confirms. The action then shows in the history as “reverted”. If an action can no longer be reverted, the panel tells you why.
Which shops get the price directly and which go through the webhook?
Directly, with no extra step from you, only 4buildsite shops linked to the product (you link the product to the shop’s site and product). For any other shop or ERP, application goes through the signed price.apply webhook: your system receives the approved price, writes it where it belongs and confirms through the API. There are no ready-made connectors for other platforms.
Plans, support & account
How much does it cost and what do the plans include?
We have four plans, from Start to Premium. Start begins at $2.50 per month and Premium costs $449 per month. They differ in the number of monitored products (every page URL we read counts: your own scanned link and each competitor URL separately), in the number of distinct competitor stores you can follow in your account, in the shortest allowed interval between checks and in the volume of checks included; the exact values for each plan are in the grid on the pricing page.
Which plan is right for me?
Choose by three things: how many page URLs you want to track in total (we count every URL we read — your own link, if we scan it, plus each competitor URL separately, so one product followed at three competitors can take up four); how many different competitor stores you want in the account (the cap is on distinct stores across the whole account, not on competitors per product); and how quickly you need to catch changes — the shortest allowed interval between checks gets shorter as the plan gets bigger. Start suits small catalogs and a first step into monitoring; Premium suits very wide assortments, many competitor stores and the most frequent checks. You can always set a longer interval than your plan’s minimum, and you can upgrade any time as you grow.
How do I get started with 4pricing?
You create an account, import your products (one by one by URL, or via CSV) and choose the competitors to track. You soon see your first price comparisons in the panel and start receiving alerts on relevant changes.
Do you offer setup help and ongoing support?
Yes. We help with importing your product list, organizing it into categories and groups and setting up alerts and margins, then you have support through the in-account channel. For large catalogs you can use the CSV import or the REST API, with a published OpenAPI specification and bulk price submission.
