Competitor price monitoring for UK online shops: stop guessing what rivals charge

Somewhere a rival has just dropped the price on a product you also sell, and you will find out days later, if at all. 4pricing.net is a price tracker for UK online retailers. Add the product pages of the shops you compete with, choose how often each one is checked (from every hour), and get an alert at the first check that catches a change.

Everything you need to track competitor prices

4pricing checks the prices on the competitor shops you add by URL — for example Amazon UK, Argos, Currys or John Lewis — for the products you choose, from every hour upward. You get an alert on the first check that catches a change, the price history is kept, and an algorithm (not generative AI) calculates a recommended price. You decide what to change in your own shop.

Automatic price checks at the interval you choose

  • You add competitor shops by product page URL — Amazon UK, Argos or Currys are only examples, not a fixed list
  • No more opening competitor pages by hand
  • Set the interval per product, from every hour upward
  • You pick the products and the competitor pages to follow

An alert on the first check that catches a change

  • An alert as soon as a check finds that a competitor changed a price
  • You hear within the interval you set, not the next day
  • Each alert is tied to a tracked product and competitor page
  • An alert webhook can pass the change on to your own system

A recommended price calculated by an algorithm

  • The algorithm compares your price with the competitor prices you track
  • It suggests a competitive price — a calculation, not generative AI
  • The decision is yours: use the suggestion or ignore it
  • Nothing changes automatically in your shop; you apply the price yourself

Competitor price history, kept

  • Every detected price change with its timestamp
  • History per product and competitor page
  • See whether a drop was brief or lasting
  • Plan for sales seasons such as Black Friday with real data

Add products and competitor pages by URL

  • Paste the product URL from your shop and from each competitor
  • Any online shop can be added by URL
  • You decide which competitor page is followed for which product
  • Correct or remove a tracked page at any time

API keys and an alert webhook

  • Create API keys to read your price data in your own tools
  • The alert webhook sends changes to an endpoint you choose
  • You set up the connection to your own tools yourself
  • Handy for your own dashboards and scripts

Your price next to the recommended price

  • See your current price beside the recommended one
  • A recommendation changes nothing on its own: you decide, and you apply the price in your own shop
  • No automatic price changes in your shop
  • The competitors you track are the ones compared

An alert when you are no longer the cheapest

  • Find out when a tracked competitor drops below your price
  • Based on the competitor pages you added
  • The recommended price to get back ahead is a suggestion, not an instruction
  • Your position against each tracked shop, product by product
Briefing and opportunities

Daily briefing and opportunities

On top of monitoring, 4pricing prepares a briefing every day: what moved at your competitors, where you can raise a price without losing your position, where your margin is thinning and what is worth doing first. Every finding comes with the evidence it was built from and, where there is a basis for it, an estimated monthly value.

What the daily briefing contains

  • Opportunities: products where you can raise the price, or competitors that ran out of stock
  • Margin risks: prices below cost or below the minimum margin you set
  • Category campaigns, price wars and aggressive discounts seen at competitors
  • Assortment gaps, from the brand or category lists you follow
  • You see it in the panel inbox; it reaches a webhook only if you switch it on and set the destination

Where the amounts come from

  • The monthly value is computed only from your own shop's sales, which you send through the API
  • Without sales we do not invent a number: you see “—”
  • Sometimes a “market estimate, low confidence” appears, labelled separately; it is never added to the sales-based figure
  • Amounts are indicative, not a profit guarantee

How your price changes

  • You see the recommended price and the reason for it; nothing is sent
  • You check the recommendation against your cost, your minimum margin and your market position
  • If the price has moved in the meantime, check again before you apply it
  • A recommendation is a proposal: the decision to change the price stays with you

Sales go in, approved prices come out

  • You send daily sales per product through the API, up to 2,000 rows per request
  • An approved price reaches your system through a signed webhook (price.apply) and you confirm after applying it
  • A recommendation becomes a price only when you apply it manually, in your system or shop
  • There are no ready-made connectors for other platforms

Your price changes only when you apply it manually, and the webhook goes only to the destination you set.

Price API and webhooksAPI documentation for developers

Use price data in your own systems

4pricing gives you the data through a REST API (with API keys), an alert webhook and a CSV or Excel export. There are no ready-made connectors for ERP, warehouse systems or marketplaces: what happens with the data is built by your own team or developers.

REST API & webhook — price data for your own systems

All data collected by 4pricing is available with API keys through a documented REST API: the current price of each competitor per product, the complete price history and the recommended price calculated by an algorithm.

The signed webhook sends an HTTP notification on alerts. 4pricing does not write prices into your shop or your ERP: you apply the recommended price yourself, manually. There are no ready-made connectors.

Add products by URL and export to CSV — ready in minutes

You add products and competitor shops by pasting the product-page URL, one link at a time.

CSV or Excel export runs on demand, in one click from the dashboard, with the complete price history. If you need a fixed cadence, call the same export from the REST API and schedule it yourself.

Amazon UK, Argos and more — your price position across monitored shops

4pricing tracks the price shown on Amazon UK, Argos or Currys like any other shop on your list and places it next to the rest of your competitors on the same product. When a competitor undercuts you, or when you are no longer the cheapest among the monitored shops, the alert reaches you at the first check that catches the change, together with the recommended price to get back in front.

You choose the shops: add any online shop by product URL — John Lewis, AO.com or eBay UK are only examples — and set a different check interval per product, from every hour. There are no ready-made connectors, and we do not guarantee that every shop can be read.

Price intelligence for every retail vertical

4pricing monitors competitors and calculates a recommended price for UK retailers in electronics, appliances, beauty, sport, DIY and more. You add the shops to follow — Amazon UK, Argos, Currys, John Lewis or any other by URL — and pick the check interval per product.

Electronics and IT

Electronics and IT

Laptops, phones, PC components, peripherals — the categories with the sharpest price moves between Amazon UK, Argos and Currys. Without automated monitoring, you find out too late that you have fallen behind on price.

You set the interval per product: for this vertical we suggest hourly checks on your top 50 SKUs and a weekly check on the long tail.

Large and small appliances

Large and small appliances

Fridges, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, coffee machines — predictable promotional cycles and head-to-head competition between AO.com, Currys and John Lewis.

Stored price history matters most here: you can see when a rival pushed the price up before Black Friday and when it came back down.

Beauty and personal care

Beauty and personal care

Categories with many sellers and thin, variable margins. Following the same product at Boots, Superdrug and Amazon UK shows who really is cheapest once offers and multi-buys are counted.

For this vertical, picking the exact product page at each competitor is critical — cosmetics come in variant sizes and pack weights that are not always obvious from the title. You decide which product pages are watched: same size, same pack.

Sports and fitness

Sports and fitness

Equipment, clothing and accessories with pronounced seasonality. Anticipating end-of-season price drops and watching Sports Direct and Decathlon UK is critical for margin.

The stored price history shows the trend — so you know when post-season cuts begin and can react before your competitors do.

DIY and garden

DIY and garden

Tools, building materials, garden furniture — competition from B&Q, Screwfix and Wickes. Strong spring-summer seasonality creates premium pricing windows when demand is high.

4pricing shows you when competitors raise prices for the season, so you can do the same without losing your position.

Automotive and motorcycle

Automotive and motorcycle

Car parts, accessories, consumables — a fragmented market with many niche sellers. Following Halfords, Euro Car Parts and eBay UK listings lets you position correctly on high-demand SKUs.

There are many part numbers here and prices move slowly — you can set a wider interval and save credits, while an alert at the first check that catches a change still reaches you.

Toys and children's products

Toys and children's products

Concentrated seasonality (Black Friday, Christmas) with heavy price pressure at peak. Short-interval checks decide whether the sale lands with you or with the rival on the busiest days.

During peak weeks a price can change several times in a day. Hourly checks on seasonal products mean you see it first.

Books, stationery and office supplies

Books, stationery and office supplies

Back to school (August-September) creates demand peaks. Following Waterstones, WHSmith and Amazon UK lets you position correctly at the key moments of the year.

This vertical has the most stable prices outside campaign periods — 4pricing alerts you only when a real move happens, without filling your inbox.

What it is

What is 4pricing.net

4pricing.net is a price tracker for UK online retailers who want to know how they are priced against their competition. You decide which shops you follow — you add each one by product URL, for example Amazon UK, Argos, Currys, John Lewis, AO.com or eBay UK — and how often each product is checked, from every hour. You get an alert at the first check that catches a competitor changing a price, plus a recommended price calculated by the algorithm — sharp enough to win the sale, without giving away your margin.

What you can do with 4pricing

  • Monitor competitor prices across the shops you choose yourself
  • Get an alert as soon as a check catches one of your monitored shops changing a price
  • Access the stored price history per product, per competitor
  • Get a recommended price calculated automatically by the 4pricing algorithm
  • Spot products where you are too expensive and losing sales
  • Spot products where you are too cheap and leaving margin on the table
  • Import your catalogue by product URL

Advantages for UK retailers

  • Find out at the interval you set — from one hour — when a competitor changes a price
  • Stored price history helps you tell a real promotion from a fake one
  • The recommended price takes into account the minimum margin you set
  • An alert when you are no longer the cheapest among the shops you monitor
  • Bulk catalogue import by product URL — no manual data entry
  • A documented REST API (API keys) and an alert webhook for your own tools

Current limitations

We are upfront — here is where 4pricing.net is not yet the right fit:

  • Every shop is added by product URL and we do not guarantee coverage of any particular retailer; on small sites, reading the price may need checking
  • Prices do not change on their own: a recommendation is applied after your approval
  • You set the frequency per product, from one hour — but every check uses a credit, so a very short interval across the whole catalogue costs more
  • There are no ready-made connectors to shop platforms or marketplaces; you use the API or the webhook (exception: on shops built on 4buildsite an approved price is applied directly)

How it works (3 steps)

Import your catalogue

Add the links to the product pages — yours and your competitors' — one by one.

Monitoring runs by itself

The system checks prices at the interval you set for each product, from every hour, and sends an alert at the first check that catches a change.

Decide with the facts

Review the recommended price and the competitor history, then decide: approve the proposed price or apply it yourself, by hand.
